Re: 2009 WV PTA Scholarship
The WV PTA is very pleased to announce that eight scholarships were given to graduating seniors in 2008. Each scholarship was in the amount of $500.
2009 seniors have the opportunity to apply for the $500 scholarships to be awarded at our 2009 convention. The number to be awarded will be determined according to the funds on hand at that time.
I have enclosed an application packet with all information required. Please make copies for all seniors interested at your school. We strongly encourage all students that are planning on attending vocational schools, college or any other higher learning institute to apply for our scholarship. There is no limit to the number of students that may apply from your school.
Please be sure that students have read the rules and
requirements included in the packet.

2009 Rules and Requirements
The amount of the WV PTA
Scholarship(s) will be $500.
The Scholarship recipient(s)
must be a high school senior in a WV school.
Applicants must have at least
a 2.0 grade point average.
This scholarship must be used
for tuition/educational expenses in any vocational school, college or other
higher learning institute approved by the Scholarship Selection Committee. It may not be used for living or personal
expenses.
The scholarship recipient may
accept another source of financial aid or scholarship.
A high school transcript MUST be submitted along with the
original application and four copies (5 complete sets).
No more than three letters
of recommendation, one page each, may be submitted along with application.
Applications must have notarized
signatures of parent/guardian and student.

The final decision on
awarding the scholarship(s) shall be made by the Scholarship Selection
Committee.
The Scholarship Committee is
comprised of WV PTA Board members from across the state. This is the reason for five complete sets of
application attachments.
Payment to the scholarship
recipient shall be in the form of a check made payable to the approved school
to be used for tuition/educational expenses only.
If a student fails to
complete the semester, any refunds will revert to the WV PTA.
Criteria for Selection
of Scholarship Recipients(s):
Overall
presence of essay and application. Incomplete application will not be
considered.
Sincerity
of furthering his/her education.
Volunteer Service, Honors
received and Extra-Curricular Activities
GPA, ACT and SAT scores
Recipients(s) shall be
selected without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin,
handicap or geographical location.
